Overlooking the historic greenery of Enos Jones Park, The Chester is an oasis of contemporary design in one of Downtown’s most peaceful residential pockets. Its strategic location allows residents to enjoy public parks and local sports facilities while maintaining easy access to the neighborhood’s gourmet dining scene, setting a new standard for urban family living.

CONCEPT
The Chester unites two architectural languages in a single facade: a fully restored historic red-brick shell — a hallmark of Downtown Jersey City’s 19th-century streetscape — and a bold contemporary addition defined by floor-to-ceiling glazing, clean geometric lines, and a rooftop terrace framed by lush greenery.
Construction follows the same European-informed approach applied across all Shape projects, with an emphasis on material selection, build quality, and long-term performance.
Interiors are designed by Shape Designs — the firm’s in-house team based between Switzerland and Italy. Warm tones, natural materials, and carefully proportioned spaces create homes that feel refined without being cold.
Four premium residences, each conceived as a distinct living experience — from garden-level duplexes to rooftop penthouses — across 6,062 square feet in the heart of Downtown Jersey City.
NEIGHBOURHOOD
A quiet residential block of 1880s–1900s brick rowhouses in Downtown Jersey City, between the Paulus Hook and Van Vorst Park neighbourhoods. Van Vorst Park — with its Saturday farmers' market — is a short walk away.
Newark Avenue's pedestrian plaza — restaurants, cafés, and independent shops — is nearby. The Grove Street PATH station is within walking distance, with direct service to Manhattan.
